We don’t go out to eat as much. We try to stay home to watch movies.”

About 75 percent of women with children told researchers in the poll that the recession has changed their spending and savings habits “forever,” compared with 61 percent of women without children and 60 percent of men. The poll found women across all income levels are experiencing the pain of the recession and are curtailing purchases, but working mothers have been hardest hit by the economy.
