Researchers tested 84 male students by asking each one to sit in a room and solve a Sudoku puzzle. Two strangers, one male and one female, were also in the room.

When the female stranger left the room and the two men remained sitting together, the volunteer’s stress levels did not rise. However, when the volunteer was left alone with the female stranger, his cortisol levels rose.

The researchers concluded: “In this study we considered that for most men the presence of an attractive woman may induce the perception that there is an opportunity for courtship.

“While some men might avoid attractive women since they think they are ‘out of their league’, the majority would respond with apprehension and a concurrent hormonal response.

“This study showed that male cortisol levels increased after exposure to a five-minute short social contact with a young, attractive woman.”

Cortisol can have a positive effect in small doses, improving alertness and well-being. However, chronically elevated cortisol levels can worsen medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and impotency.

Women just can’t stop trying to kill men through their powers of seduction! Am I right?

After much pondering, which mostly involved fishing for a culprit for this clear injustice, I submit the following hypothesis: From a young age, expectations for the behavior of boys vs. girls differ drastically. These expectations stem from the distinct ways boys and girls spend their time. More often than not, boys find outlets in sports, action figurines, toy cars, and rough-housing while girls play with dolls, experiment with mom’s makeup, role-play (who else played a lot of school?), and do arts and crafts. Yes, I know there are exceptions. But let’s be honest. Most girls are playing dress up or arranging stuffed animals while boys are farting in each others’ faces and practicing WWF wrestling moves.

Why? Because if boys and girls played together, the boys would end up ridiculing or hurting the girls until they cry.

Why? Because girls’ feelings are as fragile as mom’s nicest set of china. Most women remain sensitive their entire lives while men have the enviable ability to brush things off/laugh at themselves/not hold grudges. Which leads me back to the world of comedy: if you can’t take it, you can’t dish it out…

The rest of us girls rarely have this ability unless born with a little extra testosterone (i.e. Ellen and Rosie). Consequently, we find ourselves vulnerable and the butt of many punch lines in movies, stand up and television.

 Women be fragile little unfunny flowers! Am I right?

THURSDAY, Dec. 17 (HealthDay News) — Dermatologists have discovered yet another gender inequity: Women develop more and deeper wrinkles around their mouths as they age than men do.

The disadvantage had long been suspected, but a new study provides “irrefutable scientific evidence,” said Dr. Foad Nahai, a plastic surgeon practicing in Atlanta and editor-in-chief of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. The study appears in the November/December issue of the journal.

The authors of the paper believe they even know why women suffer more in this department.

“The gender differences were most probably due to the amount of appendages [hair follicles, sebaceous glands] and the connections between the skin and muscle of the lips,” explained senior study author Dr. Moshe Kon, head of the department of plastic, reconstructive and hand surgery at University Medical Center Utrecht in the Netherlands.

“We had always had the impression that male skin doesn’t age as rapidly as female skin,” said Nahai. “What we didn’t know, and this study points out, is that one of the reasons that lines are deeper in women is because they have fewer sweat or sebaceous glands, the glands that make the oil that keeps our skin feeling soft … So women are producing less oil, which is protective and keeps the skin smoother.”
